FAQ

Keyboard shortcuts — questions and answers

Can I change DashShot shortcuts?+
Yes. Click the DashShot icon in the tray (menu bar on Mac) → Settings, click a field and press the new combination. If it is already taken by the system or another app, DashShot will say so and keep the old one.
How do I stop a screen recording with the keyboard?+
Press the same shortcut you used to start it — ⌘⇧9 on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+9 on Windows. ⌘⇧0 / Ctrl+Shift+0 pauses and resumes. The pause key is only active while recording, so it doesn't clash with other apps.
Do the single-letter editor keys work on a Cyrillic layout?+
Yes. DashShot reads the physical key, so R selects the box whether your layout is English, Ukrainian or Russian.
Why not ⌘⇧3, ⌘⇧4 or ⌘⇧5 on Mac?+
macOS reserves these for its own screenshot tool and no app can take them over. That is why DashShot uses 1, 2, 8, 9 and 0.
